Block Diagram of Induction Heating
- The block diagram of induction heating consists of high frequency AC source, the work coil, reset timer and the metal object or work-piece to be heated.
- The high frequency RF source provides alternating current to the work coil. Different parameters of the source such as voltage, current and frequency are selected according to the application requirements.
- The work coil is wound around the work-piece. Number of turns in the work coil winding are selected depending upon the work-piece size and the power requirements for heating.
- The reset timer is used to switch the power source on and off for heating and cooling processes. The timer operation can be for a fixed time cycle of on/ off times or according to the feedback used in the process.
- Different heating processes require either sudden cooling (quenching) or slow cooling according to the application.
- E.g. hardening process require sudden cooling whereas annealing process require slow cooling.
