Introduction of Wind Power Plant

  1. Winds are generated due to atmospheric temperature difference caused by different areas getting different fluxes of sun-energy (sun-radiations).
  2. Air mass tends to move from hot region areas towards colder regional areas this generates winds in the directions.
  3. Wind energy depends upon its speed. Speed is higher at higher heights.
  4. Thus wind energy is an Indirect form of solar energy.
  5. Wind energy can be converted into electrical energy in wind power stations.
  6. Wind energy is available continuously in selected areas. Mandvi-wind farm, Gujarat is the first wind farm in India. It is near western coast at 4 km from Mandvi.
