High Temperature Solar Plant using Central Tower

High Temperature Solar Plant using Central Tower

  • Use of central tower receiver.
  • Tower height about 500 m.
  • Array of plane mirrors (Heliostats).
  • Mirrors reflect solar radiations to receiver.
  • Receiver is kept on tower top.
  • Central Tower Solar Power Plant
  • Feed water in absorber-receiver (i.e. boiler) converted into steam at high temperature about 700°C.
  • High temperature steam from boiler goes to drive steam turbine.
  • Turbine drives the generator to convert mechanical power into electrical power output.
  • Condenser ‘C’ condenses steam and pumped back to boiler.
  • In Itali 50 kW plant was built. In different countries high capacity 1 to 10 MW plants are running.
