1.If the electrical equipment which is under fire is definitely “DEAD”, The fire can be tackled as an ordinary one with force spraying water.
2.Normally electrical equipment remains “ALIVE” at so many fires for a considerable period. So in such case water force spray proves to be dangerous as with water fire will spread and the person operating water spray may get electric shock from live electricity through water to the operator as water is conductive to electricity.
3. In such cases special high pressure water supplies which apply water by diffusing or fin spray nozzles can be safely used even at 2 to 3 metres from the live part.
4. Other systems to ‘put off electric fires : (a) Sacking or carpet to beat out the fire. (b) Sand of Earth to smoothen the fire.
