Half Bridge Voltage Source Inverter (R Load)

Half Bridge Voltage Source Inverter (Resistive Load)

Circuit Diagram of Half Bridge Voltage Source Inverter :

  • The principle of single phase transistorised inverters com be explained with the help of Figure A. The configuration is known as the half bridge configuration.
  • The transistor Qis turned on for a time T0 / 2, which makes the instantaneous voltage across the load v0
     = – V /
    2.
  • If transistor Qis turned on instant  T/ 2 by turning Q1 off then – V / 2 appears across the load.
  • A precaution must be taken while designing the control circuit so that both the transistor not turned on simultaneously, short circut the source and may damage the transistor as this transistors.

Waveforms of Half Bridge Voltage Source Inverter :

Figure B shows the waveforms of output voltage and transistor currents with a resistive load. The voltage across the transistor when it is off is V and not V/2.
