1.

Starter Cu loss (I21 R1)

Use larger conduction – increase cross sectional area of startor
winding which reduces ‘R’ effecting in reduction of I2R losses.

2.

Rotor Cu loss (I22 R2)

Use larger conductors – increase cross sectional area of startor winding
which reduces ‘R’ effecting in reduction of rotor winding.

3.

Iron core loss

Use thinner stampings lower loss material which reduces eddy current.
Take long length cores – more steel material helps in reducing flux density
and hence magnetic losses are lower.

4.

Stray load loss

Go for optimized design, strict quality control procedure due to
which stray load losses are reduced.

5.

Friction and windage

Use good quality bearings, maintain lubrication in bearings, use low
loss fan design. This results in reducing windage losses.
