Merits of McMurry Bedford Commutation :
- It does not need any auxiliary SCRs for commutation.
- It is possible to return the load energy back to source od through the feedback diodes.
- It is a voltage commutation and takes place instantly.
Demerits McMurry Bedford Commutation :
- The circuit is bulky due to the use of inductors.
- Energy stored in the inductors cannot be returned to source.
- This principle is not applicable to a three phase inverter operating in 120° mode.
